A New Adventure Looms: England and Greece

The countdown is on. The flights are booked. The itinerary is complete. Our new adventure begins on May 2, 2018.

We fly to London, England and spend about three weeks visiting with family and friends. The role of family and friends in our lives often goes unappreciated. They help to define who we are, give meaning to our lives, and, heck, they know us so well!!   Being a friend is an honour and a responsibility. We are super excited to have the opportunity to spend time with our family and friends living in England and Europe: to catch up on current lives, ruminate over past adventures, and create new magical moments to add to our memory box.

On May 23 we fly to Dubrovnik where we will pick up a 15 day small group tour with Intrepid Travel. This takes us through the southern part of Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, and Greece. We finish in Athens on June 9.

From Athens, we will head towards the Pelopponese and after experiencing the magnificent ancient Greek theatre in Epidavros, we will do a driving tour of The Mani. Have you read Patrick Leigh Fermor's book "Mani: Travels in Southern Pelopponese?" It sounds a fascinating place and we are looking forward to learning more about the culture, the history, and the folklore....and maybe meeting a vampire or two!!

Once our trip in The Mani is over, we aim to catch a ferry in Kilini to Poros in Kefalonia where our very good friends Fiona and Hugh Miller will meet us. Then after a week of exploring Kafalonia we will sadly say our goodbyes and start the homeward journey via London returning to Vancouver on June 28.

Stay tuned! We look forward to travelling with you!
