Wednesday June 20
We had a relaxed morning
till our ferry at 1:00 p.m. The terminal was about a 5 minute walk across the
road and through the car park to the ferry. The ferries are massive, multi
storey car ferries with beautiful passenger lounges, bars, restaurants, shops,
and decks. It was not much better than empty. Speedy, smooth and efficient.
We arrived at Poros just
after 2:20, and spied Fiona and Dusty in the “black Mercedes estate” patiently
waiting for us outside the boat. We didn’t have any distance at all to carry
our backpacks!!
It is as if we have never
been apart. We worked out how long we have known each other and it must be
about 38 years. We gave gratitude to our long friendship with a glass of wine;
and over the next few hours got caught up on all the happenings, good and bad.
We swam in the pool, and talked some more. Dusty made a delicious dinner, and
in no time, the day was over, and it was time for bed.
Dusty and Fiona’s beautiful
home is on the opposite side of the island from Poros, tucked into a hill
overlooking the ocean and surrounded by olive trees and wild flowers. It is so
beautiful. Peaceful and quiet, and feels like heaven.
