We had a relaxed morning after our busy few days and went
for a gentle run in the – although not before the sun managed to turn
up its heat level!! We ran up the road to the park where we watched a couple of
fitness classes doing their “circuits”, tried to follow another trail that was
part of the Great North Walk but there were so many roots, and rickety old
stone stairs that we turned back and headed up the road instead. Beautiful
floral aromas drifted around us doing their best to block out the stifling
smell of the petrol fumes. The residential roads are leafy with avenues of
trees and bushes on either side and the houses are all different sizes and
shapes and designs. The fitness classes had just finished when we returned.
After getting
cleaned up we wandered up to Harris Farms on Pittwater Road and did a bit of
shopping for dinner. The supermarkets are much like home, but some of the foods
are pricey: mushrooms for example at $17/kg, potatoes at close to $10/kg and
after we loaded up the fridge we strolled down to the village in Hunters Hill
and had lunch at Chico’s, a tiny little café tucked away in an enclave of small
shops off the main road.
Meanwhile back in Squamish on Feb 5 (which was actually a day later) Alanna and Dan moved into their new home. We wish them every happiness in their new location looking out on the water of Howe Sound.
