This morning Ray went off with Jim to the butcher’s to
pick up the filet mignon we had ordered yesterday for dinner tonight. I
hoovered up the house so that everything would be nice and clean and tidy for
Sue’s homecoming. On Jim’s return he took me to the supermarket to buy the
salad items and desert for dinner. Prices in the grocery store are all over the
board. $10 for 3 chicken breasts. $1.99 for a decent sized bunch of celery.
$9.99/kg for washed white potatoes. About $17.00/kg for cremini mushrooms.
Berries vary just about as much as they do in Canada but do seem more pricey.
Milk at the garage station down the road is Aus $2.00
After we got back, Jim
set off for the airport. Ray and I had lunch then walked down to the village to
pick up a few personal items we needed and when we got back, Sue was home.
Shortly, Sue’s niece and little boy and grandfather (Sue’s step father) came to
tea. After they left we had about an hour’s “quiet time” and then it was time
to prepare dinner. Ray cooked the steaks absolutely perfectly, and the meat was
delicious. So was desert, a butter lemon tart, strawberries and blueberries,
and cream. A delicious treat for dinner.
