Voice from South America

Sunday May 20

In 2007 Ray and I did a 4 ½ month overlanding trip to South America. We travelled with Robin with whom we became instant friends. When you spend 4 ½ months with someone more or less 24/7, when you “click” you form a solid bond. That is the way it is with Robin. Since 2007, she has met and married Arun, and had two wonderful little boys, Amar and Avi. We travelled up to Mill Hill on the northern outskirts of London, not without deviations in the journey, and met Arun for the first time, and the two boys. Just to add to the specialty of the day, Babs, Robin’s sister, and Robin’s parents, whom we met for the first time, joined us.

Avi.....again! Don't you love the smile?

We talked, and talked, played with Amar and Avi, and ate Robin’s delicious dinner. Arun took me on a walk to see the military barracks around which their brand new home was built. We saw the splendid building of the officers’ mess which was built in 1907 and which was now converted into modern apartments. The grounds were spectacular with their seating areas, and flower beds. And what was most important about the day was the crazy melee of adults and kids enjoying the generational interaction without reserve, and with passion, resulting in pure joy!

Thank you Robin and Arun for some very special moments.

Thankfully, the journey back to West By-Fleet was without "deviation" and smooth!!
